Call in on Haverstock Hill cycling plans
Yes - we are definitely planning to ask for a deputation on the 26th
and will also be taking action to draw media attention to the issue
and to the Conservative councillors opposition to the plans. Linus
summarises the benefits very well - the plans would replace car
parking with cycle lanes on a route that has been in Camden's
Transport strategy since 2019. The 'alternatives' suggested by the
councillors are circuitous, on busy one-way roads with little space
for cycle lanes, involving steeper hills and totally ignore anyone
living or with a destination to the west of Haverstock Hill.

Next week's C and E scrutiny committee has a call-in on the decision for cycling proposals on Haverstock Hill.
Culture and Environment Scrutiny Committee - Thursday, 26th August, 2021 6.30 pm https://democracy.camden.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?MId=10029 Cllr Steve Adams, Cllr Oliver Cooper, Cllr Andrew Parkinson, and Cllr Gio Spinella want the scheme halted and an alternative to be considered. This is an important direct route for cyclists from Hampstead to Camden Town, and if implemented would provide a link to the already established Prince of Wales Road, Royal College Street, Midland Road and Judd Street LTN. This route with the addition of Haverstock Hill and Rosslyn Hill would provide a direct safe route from Hampstead to Bloomsbury; and then also connect to the C6 route to Blackfriars and Elephant and Castle. Is CC making a deputation against the call-in? Can I help?
