Consultation on retaining the current arrangements on Goods Way

Jean Dollimore

Goods Way has been one way westbound for motor vehicles for most of its length during recent construction works. The section between the Kings Cross Station service road and York Way is two-way to allow service and construction vehicles to access York Way directly.  Two-way cycling has been maintained right along Goodsway.

Camden proposes to make the current arrangements permanent

I believe this is something CCC should support because the current arrangements prevent motor vehicles from using Goodsway as a Euston Road bypass in an eastbound direction.

A few other points we might mention:
  • when the construction works are complete, complete the protected mandatory westbound cycle lane all the way from York Way
  • even allowing non-taxis to overtake ranking taxis, there is still spare road space at the western end. How about planting?
  • it would be even better to stop westbound through motor traffic apart from taxis
CCC will send a response based on the discussions here and on CycleScape
